Every business I run has the same quality - it's about bringing people in person to work together to creatively solve problems.
My own mom took the majority of the responsiblity for making sure my grandmother was cared for. Even though she was in an assisted care facility, it still required enough time that she had to put her own career on the back burner and missed time with her own grandchildren. Everyone in the famliy was grateful for her work, but there is no doubt it was a sacrifice.
- I’m in this myself now. My own parents are starting to ask questions about what’s next. A few years ago, I helped my parents purchase a house across the street from my older sister. We were planning ahead and felt like we were doing what was right. Then the owner of the house my sister had been renting for over 10 years, wanted to move back and my sister had to move. So, even with forthought and preparation, we are back in deciding mode again. My mom is very proud of the work she has done to renovate the home she is in and both of my parents have great friendships in their immediate neighborhood. She doesn’t want to move, she doesn’t want to downsize. I get it. This isn’t an easy decision and everyone feels guilty asking everyone else to make sacrifices.
